It starts here on the front porch, clutching a fine glass of Malbec, staring vacuously
at .......

..... the mountains and the cornfield opposite our house.

Then, often uninspired, I head off with the dog to the trails on the mountain.
This happens a lot!
We have the fittest Griffon pointer on the planet, to the point where the words 'walk' or 'come on dog, let's go' no longer incites excitement, leaping about and furious tail wagging.
No.
Now I get paws over ears and slinking off to hide under beds. Her body language screaming "No. Dear God, not again. Somebody inspire this idiot so I can get some sleep."
Huge Title

Griffon Pointers aren't the scruffiest dogs on the planet - but it's close!

Let sleeping dogs lie!

Unless of course, you're suffering from a lack of creativity.

But eventually, I end up here back at my desk.
I'm lucky enough to have an office all to myself as Linda had a purpose-built studio out back.
This is a good thing for us both since she likes to work to the sounds of Andrea Bocelli, The Three Tenors, and various podcasts, whereas I can only achieve anything in total silence.
The kneeling chair is an acknowledgement of my aging back. In a regular office chair, as time goes by, I find myself sinking lower and lower, till my chin's just about level with the keyboard!
This is the second or third one I've had of the kneeling persuasion.
I highly recommend them.
I use a Mac, the second screen's just a monitor on which I usually have a thesaurus/dictionary open.
I like Macs; we've had them for years and the writing/editing and formatting software I use doesn't play well or at all with PCs.
I use Vellum for the writing process and for converting the manuscript to e-books and print.
Moleskin notebooks were my choice for the longest time; I still carry one in my backpack, but last birthday, my friends and family clubbed together and brought me a ReMarkable tablet.
My handwriting's reasonable, so the thing can translate it to text and then I can export the notes to a PDF file.
It's searchable too, in a way that notebooks and scraps of paper stapled together, just aren't.

It's not backlit though, so you have to have daylight or a lamp.
Their advertising suggests this is a good thing (fewer distractions) but I'm sure if the backlight was available, I'd use it more in the evenings.
